Since the Maharaja was a a aficionado of mathematics and science he also sought advice from Vidyadhar Bhattacharya, a Brahmin scholar of Bengal, to aid him to form the architectural design of Jaipur. Vidyadhar referred the ancient Indian literature on astronomy, books of Ptolemy and Euclid, and discussed the plan of Architecture of Jaipur with the King

The magnificent Architecture of Jaipur is solely based on the following the tenets of Shilpa Shastra or the Indian Architecture. According to the traditional dictum of Indian architecture the beautiful city of Jaipur was dissected into nine blocks, out of which two encompassed the state buildings and palaces, whereas the remaining seven blocks were allotted to the public. The royal quarters of Jaipur quarter encloses a sprawling palace complex called the Hawa Mahal, or palace of winds, beautiful gardens, and a small lake. The Nahargarh Fort crowns the hill in the northwest corner of the old city. One of the most noteworthy building is city Sawai Jai Singh's observatory known as the Jantar Mantar.

The architecture of Jaipur doesn't ignore the security aspect of the city either. After fighting several battles with Marathas, Jai Singh was keen on the security aspect of the Jaipur city.Gigantic fortification walls were made in the city along with seven strong gates to ensure the security of Jaipur. Till date the array of the neat and broadly laid-out avenues of Jaipur and the intricately designed havelis and palaces in Jaipur which painted in pink provide a riveting charm to the city.
